Types Of Airboats

Airboats come in many different types for particular purposes. Most can be custom built by manufacturers like DiamondBack (www.diamondbackairboats.com) or modified by oneself with a few simple tools. The different types of airboats are merely modifications to a basic style: a flat bottom boat with an engine-powered fan on the back.
Tour airboats usually have an extended hull length and beam and are designed to seat quite a few passengers (around 24 in the bigger ones). These are powered with large engines that must be able to handle a heavy load. Search and rescue style airboats have optional booms for picking up debris or people from the water, a water pump and hose, a remote control search light and a stretcher platform.
These variations come with some additional costs to the purchaser, but many options are worth it since they will improve the functionality of the airboat. Aquatic weed control airboats come with tanks and spray systems along with optional bow sprayers, rake booms and lake suction devices. A law enforcement airboat is built for speed and durability with the option of side jump seats, a dive platform, remote control search lights and reflective striping.
Pleasure airboats can come with any amenities one would desire for relaxing on the water: a CD player, coolers, canopies, dome lights, etc. Whatever an airboat can be used for, there is no doubt it can be specially customized. Diamondback has two more airboats worthy of special mention. These include their fishing and Alaskan style boats. Fishing airboats can be customized with a fishing platform on the bow of the boat with lights and an additional steering and throttle system. They can be customized with fishing seats and pretty much any electrical devices one would desire on a fishing boat. The Alaskan style fishing boat is built for incredibly cold climates and has an enclosed, heated cabin with windshield wipers, ice breaks and more.
The types of boats available at Diamondback are not the only ones. Think of a use for an airboat and it can be modified to fit that purpose.
