Airboat Fishing

Airboat fishing is quickly becoming a popular way to catch fish. Many fishers assume that the noisy engine and propeller of the airboat scares off wildlife and is not conducive to hunting or fishing. As more and more fishers experience what airboat fishing has to offer, they are changing their opinions.
The airboat is loud when the propeller is spinning at high rpm's, but when it is idling or at a slow speed, the noise borders negligible. Even when the propeller is spinning at its loudest, it is probably not that much more audible to fish than a traditional boat and if used properly will not scare away any potential catches.
The advantages of airboat fishing far surpass this singular disadvantage. Just like any other boat, airboats can be custom built for fishing with an elevated platform on the front in order to see the fish before you catch them. In shallow waters, the airboat is much more effective than propeller or jet boats, both of which need at least three feet of water to operate successfully. An airboat requires only about three inches of water depending on the weight on board the craft. Airboat fishing can literally take you where you have never gone before–a bass fishing boat with a trolling motor is no match for the airboat in shallow waters.
Airboat fishing allows fishers to get to fishing holes that seemed off limits with a traditional boat. Even marshy areas that are not shallow but full of all sorts of vegetation and weeds were off limits to jet boats and propeller boats alike. Jet boats run the risk of getting weeds and sludge stuck in the intake while propeller engines, if they can move the boat at all, will cause immense damage to the wildlife. No matter how you look at it, in some situations airboat fishing is the only motorized option for fishing in shallow, marshy areas or low-tide areas. Even across areas of mud similar to those found in river deltas or when the tide is out, the airboat excels with minimal damage to the environment.
Since the airboat does so well in shallow areas or areas without much water at all, it should be no wonder that the boat can be beached, or brought right on to the shore, with no problem. Disembarking the vessel to fish in hard to reach fishing holes is another aspect of airboat fishing that bests traditional boats. With all of these advantages to propeller and jet boats, you can see that airboat fishing is the only way to fish in shallow flats and marshes!
